The two students who came to work on specific topics, made a final presentation where they showed their conclusions to teachers, students and special guests.

In front of a large number of attendees, the two foreign students from Germany and who came to work with the Multidisciplinary Research Group on Energy and Environmental Management, GIMEGA, made the final presentation of their research work, referring to issues of sustainability, semiconductors and specific measurements for the manufacture of photovoltaic cells.

Markus Schilling, a chemistry student from the University of Konstanz, had three months of intense work. Under the guidance of professor Adriana Mera, who belongs to the Institute for Multidisciplinary Research in Science and Technology, he was able to work on the synthesis of semiconductor materials for the degradation of caffeic acid, a contaminant present in wastewater generated in the wine and pisco industry, which causes operational and efficiency problems in biological treatment plants, as it is toxic to the microorganisms present in this type of system.

For the tutor teachers of both students, Dr. Mera and Dr. Carlos Rodríguez, this "has been hard work that entails many variables, and that we look at it in a very positive way, where we have shared knowledge and ideas that unite us in the same task”.

The fact of having foreign students working in the areas of Energy and Environmental Sustainability at the ULS shows the impact generated by the research developed by the main researchers of the GIMEGA Group, supported by PMI 1401, the Department of Chemistry and the Research Institute Multidisciplinary in Science and Technology.

The students received from the Director of Institutional Studies and Planning, Mg. César Espíndola, an institutional recognition and left open the invitation to continue working collaboratively, considering the importance of maintaining the participatory ties of future researchers in pursuit of innovation.
