Refresher workshops for graduates, group work with students of different levels, meetings with academics and visits to employers are part of the actions developed.

In the context of the socialization of the self-assessment process to accredit the Pedagogy in Mathematics and Computing degree at the University of La Serena, various activities are being developed to publicize this process among the different actors that are part of it.

This degree from the Faculty of Sciences is currently accredited for 5 years (December 9, 2013 to December 9, 2018) and awaits a new visit by peer reviewers from October 24 to 26.

Luisa Elgueta Alucema.

The workshops were developed by academics from the Department of Mathematics, Dr. Carlos Navarrete Rojas and Mg. Carlos Godoy Villanueva, activities that were coordinated by Mg. Luisa Elgueta.

“The participation of the graduates has been of great relevance in terms of the exchange of ideas, appreciations and perceptions from their point of view, having completed their pedagogical and disciplinary training process, in addition to having entered the labor field. Likewise, in the workshops they have been able to share pedagogical experiences carried out in the classrooms, to provide feedback on their teaching work and assess various actions that strengthen their didactic skills in different areas of mathematics and computing. It should be noted that the employability of degree holders reaches 100% before completing six months of graduation,” highlighted the Ped Coordinator. in Mathematics and Computing from ULS.

“On the other hand, socialization has also been developed in groups of students of different levels, for which presentations, discussion and analysis of the main results of the self-assessment process have been carried out. The students have shown great interest, identification and commitment by participating in different activities, such as responding to surveys, self-assessment meetings and various activities carried out in the degree, such as: visits to schools, school visits, JOMAT, PRIM, EXPOULS, mathematics olympiads and participation in conferences,” said Mg. Luisa Elgueta.

As indicated by the same academic, the support of the Career Student Center (CEC), student volunteers and the Career Council has been essential to develop the various socialization activities.
