School of Auditing and CAPIC organize seminar to disseminate accounting research

The activity was carried out with special guests who were experts on the subject and with the presence of a large number of students from the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences.

In order to disseminate accounting research in the discipline and related disciplines, through presentations of different research works by academics from partner universities of the Permanent Academic Conference on Accounting Research (CAPIC), the University of La Serena, specifically the School of Audit attached to the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, organized together with CAPIC the Dissemination Seminar on Accounting Research.

capic2The meeting, which began with words of gratitude and greeting from the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the ULS, Dr. Luperfina Rojas Escobar, was attended by prominent academics in the field of accounting auditing, who in turn time they presented to those present about different areas, among them, “Environmental sustainability networks in Latin American organizations”, taught by the academic of the Department of Management Control and Information Systems and director of the Center for Accounting and Transparency, Luis Alberto Jara.

For the academic and president of CAPIC, this meeting is a way to continue with the mission of the Permanent Academic Conference on Accounting Research to work collaboratively, taking advantage of the opportunities in coordination meetings and meetings with students from the universities of Chile, and on this occasion, from the University of La Serena.

The activity took place in the multipurpose room of the FACSE and the students and academics who participated in this meeting were able to interact with the speakers from the Catholic University of Valparaíso, Berta Silva, and the academic from the University of Bío Bío, Fernando Morales , who addressed the topic of “corporate information disclosed on the Internet as a line of research from an empirical approach.” Likewise, the academic from the University of La Serena, Cristian Blanco, presented the topic "Redefining the teaching-learning process of ethics for the Audit career: A proposal from a constructivist perspective."

capic3Dean Rojas highlighted the way in which the Audit career has been evolving and maintaining its foundations on fundamental issues, “based on the fact that we are a complex university and that we have a career that is accredited where research is essential to improve the quality of the skills of our students,” he assured.

Expanded board meeting

In addition to the accounting research dissemination seminar, the expanded meeting of the CAPIC board of directors was held, where guidelines were worked on jointly, with the purpose of establishing forms of cooperation to continue the work of the technical committee of the Academic Conference of Accounting Research.

In addition to the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Economics, Dr. Luperfina Rojas, 11 representatives of Chilean universities and the ULS academic, Mg., participated in the event. Patricia Cortés, who belongs to the board of directors representing the house of studies of the Coquimbo Region.
