For almost a week, OSE professionals trained in SPSS, statistical software that allows for complete data analysis.

In order to update knowledge, professionals from the Graduate Monitoring Office, belonging to the Directorate of Institutional Studies and Planning of the ULS, participated in the “SPSS Instruction Course”, held in the city of Santiago.

ose2 trainingOn the occasion, participants were able to train about this software that is used to capture and analyze data to create tables and graphs with complex data, which allows the ability to manage large volumes of data to carry out in-depth analysis.

The Graduate Monitoring Office, in one of its lines of action, aims to monitor the work trajectories and employability and income indicators of graduates and graduates, therefore, all the tools that are related to data analysis are relevant to the work of the unit, which seeks to strengthen institutional lines and allows us to know the reality of those who graduate and graduate from the University of La Serena.

The course was oriented to the fundamentals of the SPSS Statistics program, which is used for various actions, such as data manipulation, data analysis and modeling, application of algorithms, time series and different analyses.

ose3 training“The course helped us master the skills we have as employability analysts, in order to critically use the indicators when carrying out analysis, mainly associated with the employability characterization survey aimed at graduates from the University of La Serena, which interprets an important input for several procedures of the institution that are fundamental for the self-assessment and accreditation of careers and for the academic management of training programs. With this improvement, the analyzes will have a more efficient basis in terms of the reliability of the indicators and the quality of the data,” said Evelyn Torres, professional engineer analyst at the Graduate Monitoring Office.

The dynamics of the Graduate Monitoring Office, supported by the Directorate to which it belongs, is to regularly keep its professionals updated in the knowledge that they apply daily to respond to the requirements of the institution, and it is expected that In the remainder of the year, another group of professionals will be trained in the same way in their areas of professional development.
