In the presence of a significant number of officials who work in the different units and departments assigned to the Vice-Rector for Economic and Administrative Affairs, the Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, introduced the new Vice-Rector Dr. Alejandra Torrejón Vergara.

The authority, who is an academic from the Department of Education, was appointed by the Honorable Board of Directors last Friday, June 22.

The Finance Directorate, the Human Resources Directorate, the Services Directorate and the Information Technology and Computing Center depend on this Vice-Rector's Office.

On the occasion, the authority indicated that having internalized the most important aspects "I recognize that the University of La Serena is in a favorable condition both economically and financially, a situation that is reflected in the results of the financial statements. which the law requires to be published annually".

In this sense, Dr. Torrejón added that this situation is also the result of the work carried out by the entire Finance Department team.

In turn, he highlighted the work carried out by the Human Resources Department, with its Personnel, Personnel Welfare, Training and Risk Prevention units; topics that he hopes to take with special interest in his management.

For her part, in the area of ​​the Services Directorate, the Vice-Rector expressed that from what she was able to observe, she realizes the important effort that is made to respond to a large number of requirements by the different units, in one unit. where resources are scarce.

When referring to the Information and Computing Center, he valued the modernity, safety and efficiency of work, and highlighted the advances in computer platforms, which he undoubtedly said responds to a clear institutional policy.

Dr. Torrejón thanked me for this opportunity, pointing out that "I have expressed some of my comments from my experience as an academic or user of the systems, but now as I have been reviewing the work internally, these advances are confirmed."

As a seal of her management, Vice-Rector Torrejón expressed that "considering the current progress of our university from a professional and technological point of view; for further development, it is now important to focus on the administrative field from the point of view of staff development, it is worth that is, matters such as job stability, good treatment practices and gender, among others. In modern institutions, these points are a key factor for development, which involves the consideration of the person, their growth and continuous improvement."

On the occasion, Rector Dr. Nibaldo Avilés expressed that "we are in the era of the knowledge worker, where it must be recognized that by generating adequate communication spaces, people can make great contributions.
