This exhibition began the activities to celebrate the thirty-seventh anniversary of the ULS.

Within the framework of the celebration of the XXXVII institutional anniversary, the workshop “Practices in Records of Ethical Aspects in Research at the University of La Serena” was held, carried out by the Ethical-Scientific Committee and which took place in the Auditorium Marta Hall. Vitar Miranda, CADH, located on the Isabel Bongard Campus.

The activity spoke about the function that this Committee has fulfilled, in addition to exposing two important topics such as informed consent recommended by the ULS and informed settlement in research, presented by academics Lina Barrientos Pacheco and Alejandra Jana Ayala .

ethics workshop2This Committee aims to address the interrelationships between the generation of knowledge and the protection of people, animals and the environment, derived from research carried out under the protection or sponsorship of this Institution, supporting the rights of people who participate voluntarily. in investigations and in the care of sensitive data, safeguarding their identity and confidentiality through authorization commitments under informed consent.

The activity was headed by the Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, and was also attended by the Vice-Rector for Research and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Eduardo Notte, and the members that make up the Ethics-Scientific Committee, who They gave their words about the work carried out during the year of operation.

It was the Rector who delivered the first words, indicating the importance for the university of having work teams like the one represented by this Committee. "With work like the one being carried out today, the University shows that it is capable of meeting the requirements that are demanded today at the national level, not only in terms of material and infrastructure, but we also seek to improve the academic and research part , ensuring the quality of the education that the University provides,” he expressed.

ethics workshop3For his part, the Vice-Rector for Research and Postgraduate Studies highlighted the importance that the University gives to the development of scientific research, supporting the creation of committees like this one. “The work carried out by this Committee is quite arduous, seeking to comply with today's demands when it comes to achieving accreditation. And thank you for the support that has been given to this area of ​​work by the Rector's Office,” he indicated.

This Committee is made up of José Novoa Jerez, president and representative of the FACSE; Paola Salas Rivas, executive secretary and coordinator of the Committee; Carlos Navarrete Rojas, titular representative of the Faculty of Sciences; Francisco Roco Godoy, titular representative of the Faculty of Humanities; Óscar Rojas González, representative of the Faculty of Engineering; Cristian Ibáñez Gutiérrez, substitute representative of the Faculty of Sciences; Amelia Herrera Lavanchy, substitute representative of the FACSE; Lina Barrientos Pacheco, substitute representative of the Faculty of Humanities; Alejandra Jana Ayala, expert in Bioethics; Elizabeth Escobar Toro, lawyer for the Committee; and Raúl Moreno Vásquez, community representative.

This workshop was the first of the activities of a new anniversary celebration by the University of La Serena, a program that will extend until Wednesday, March 26.
