The activity was focused on high school students, in order to complement the subjects covered in the classroom.

A motivational talk where she told the attendees about her professional experience and how her current research in mathematics teaching has allowed her to relate her other two great hobbies - theater and writing - with teaching, was given by Dr. Mathematics and academic from the University of La Serena, Dr. Catalina Cvitanic, as part of the programming of the Mathematics Camp/School of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Chile.

In her presentation, the academic presented a theoretical part of the topic, and later showed two educational video capsules, generated through a project financed by the Vice-Rector's Office for Academics of the ULS, to end with a theatrical presentation of the play "The Table of three legs", of his authorship. The guest actress, Dr. Ana Cecilia De La Maza, academic at the University of La Frontera, also participated on the occasion.

This activity was carried out within the framework of the CONICYT PIA ACT1415 Project, called "Geometry on the Border", carried out by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Chile, which is aimed at high school students and their teachers.

About the Camp/School

The objective of this activity is to contribute to the development of new learning instances for both students and teachers, focused on middle school students, since during the school day it is difficult to carry out non-traditional learning activities.

For four days, both students and teachers developed various activities that complemented the subjects covered in school and were able to deepen mathematical concepts in a playful and collaborative way.
