The activity was focused on middle school students, in order to complement the subjects dealt with in the classroom.
A motivational talk where she told the audience her professional experience and how her current research in mathematics didactics has allowed her to relate her other two great hobbies -the theater and writing-, with teaching, was the one that Dr. Mathematics and academic of the University of La Serena, Dr. Catalina Cvitanic, as part of the programming of the Camp / School of Mathematics of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Chile.
In her presentation, the academic delivered a theoretical part of the subject, and then showed two video educational capsules, generated through a project funded by the Vice-Chancellor of Academics of the ULS, to end with a theatrical presentation of the work "The table of three legs ", of its authorship. On the occasion, in addition, the guest actress, Dr. Ana Cecilia De La Maza, an academic from the University of La Frontera, participated.
This activity was carried out within the framework of the CONICYT PIA ACT1415 Project, called "Geometry in the Border", which is carried out by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Chile, which is aimed at high school students and their professors.
About the Camp / School
The objective of this activity is to contribute in the development of new learning instances for both students and teachers, focused on middle school students, since during the school day it is difficult to perform non-traditional learning activities.
For four days both students and teachers developed various activities that complemented the subjects covered in the school and could deepen mathematical concepts in a playful and collaborative way.
