El Conciliar Seminary College opened its doors to the community to celebrate a new version of Astro Day, activity organized by GEMINI y Aura in Chile as part of Astronomy Week. In this instance, the University of La Serena It was done with various activities.

One of them was the “Colors in the Universe” workshop, taught by the astronomer from the Multidisciplinary Institute of Science and Technology of the ULS, Dr. Guillermo Damke, and the PhD student in Astronomy, Ciria Dias. Erich Wenderoth's talk about life in the Universe was also held.

Likewise, the dissemination stand was led by the ULS astronomer, Dr. Rodolfo Angeloni, in which the Master's in Astronomy students, Agustín Díaz and Juan Pablo Uchima, participated.

“It is always super motivating to be able to interact with an audience that has a slightly more naive and curious vision about what science means in the country and its region,” said Master's student Ignacio Díaz.

Likewise, the PhD student, who participated in this activity for the second consecutive year, Ciria Dias, stressed the importance of carrying out this activity in an educational establishment. “Scientific dissemination is very important, since it is necessary for children to know the possibilities that exist to do research science, for me it is gratifying to be and be part of Astro Day,” she expressed.

Members of the university community announced the various inclusive educational actions that are developed at the institution.

In order to share the various inclusive educational and cultural actions and practices that are developed within the University of La Serena, exchange, cooperation and collaboration between different entities was carried out for the second consecutive year, through the Meeting of Inclusion Experiences. in college.

Among the speakers were the participation of academics from the Department of Education, Dr. Georgina García, Dr. Clara Tirado and Dr. Desirée López de Maturana; of the Dept. of Agronomy, Mg. Carmen Jorquera; and the Dept. of Cs. Social, Dr. Arlyn Orellana and Ms. Claudia Farías. The students and graduates also announced the inclusion initiatives implemented in different areas, including graduates of the Dentistry program and students of the pedagogy programs in Differential Education and Computer Engineering.

“The La Silla Observatory - from the inauguration to the future” is the name of the meeting in which important speakers participate.

Important speakers, astronomers from around the world and representatives of ESO and the host institution meet throughout this week around presentations on the beginnings of the observatory, the relations with our country and its astronomical community, the main scientific achievements, the relations with other facilities and possible future scenarios, among other topics.

La University of La Serena continues to move forward decisively universal inclusion and accessibility, when inaugurating the panoramic elevator and the interior ramp for people with disabilities, located in the Ignacio Domeyko Campus.

Regarding these works, the Rector, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, stated that they facilitate the mobility and autonomy of the people who pass through the university campus and “are part of the actions to improve spaces, infrastructure and equipment promoted by the institution, and that respond to the needs of our community.” And he added that the members of the university community “have to feel proud of these advances, because they are the result of everyone's work.”

The ramp connects the entrance hall with patio 1 of the campus, while the panoramic elevator connects the interior of the building with its central patio. The elevator has a capacity of 630 kilos to transport a maximum of 8 passengers, complying with current regulations.
